Geography

Zenica Doboj Canton is one of ten administrative units in Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is in middle part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and borders Sarajevo Canton, Tuzla Canton and Middle Bosnia Canton.
Zenica Doboj Canton was constituted in September, 20 1995 and covers 12 municipalities following valleys of the Bosna, Usora and Krivaja rivers. The area of the Canton is 3904 square km inhabited by abouy 400 000 inhabitants.
The biggest part of the Canton is in the Bosna river valley where are seven towns – Visoko, Kakanj, Zenica, Zepce, Zavidovici, Maglaj, Doboj – jug, beside mentioned towns there are five more- Olovo, Breza, Vares, Tesanj and Usora.
59 % of the Canton area was covered by forests with important timber mass (40 million m3) that empowered development of timber industry and cellulose and paper producing industry.
Big part of the Canton area is farmland that is suitable for development of fruit growing, stock raising and vegetable farming, and on this basis it is very suitable for healthy food producing, starting with milk products, meat and processed meat products, and fruit and vegetable processed products.
Mining, metallurgy, metal industry, wood processing industry, furniture industry, agricultural and food producing industry, textile industry, leather industry, leather clothes producing industry caused intensive trading development, so the traders from this area are well-known even out of borders of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
